What is Aarogya Setu
app?
Aarogya Setu app is an app launched by the Govt. of India to
contact trace the person with infection and informing the people about their potential
risk of infection and practices/tips for them to stay healthy. It also provide
the details numbers of cases in different region and medical advisories
pertaining to this pandemic. Around 13.2 crore people were using the app at
present in India. In many govt. offices, workplace , even industries made it mandatory
for the workers to have the apps on
their mobiles.
How the app works?
* If the person using the app had the symptoms and tested positive
the labs will share the information with ICMR and then they upload it on the
Aarogya Setu server. Then if the person has traveled anywhere and contacted
the people the authority will trace the details of that person.
* If the infected person had the app and if he comes under
your Bluetooth proximity then both mobiles will exchange the details through electronic
signals and then you will be alerted by
the app that your are at the high risk of infection.
* The app will also estimate the risk based on the time
spend with the person ,the communication made with the person ,the distance or
how close you were with the person and any other his primary , secondary contacts were come in
contact with you based on this it will measure alert the persons as at high
risk, moderate risk ,low risk or safe
along with different colour indications.
* The app will also give the details of the users of the app
with range of 500 m to 10 km from your area along with their health status like
how many took self- assessment, how many users are different level of risks so
that you can avoid visiting those places.
Benefits:
1. As the big cities were mostly affected by the virus, if you’re
living in cities you must and should have this app for your personal safety. For
example if you’re going to any shops or market and if you come in contact with any
infectious person the app will alert you.
2. If you are travelling to somewhere keep this app in your
phone (government also said) to avoid risk.
3. If person upload the assessment details the authority can
trace the person early and can avoid the more spread of the infection.
4. Its helps to contact tracing of the person it’s easy for
the authority to identify his contact and the travel path through GPS.
5. Helps to authority for identifying hot spots and areas
with more risk of infection and to take the necessary steps and to control more
disease spread.
Limitations:
1. The person should be educated, he should have preferably
an android phone and installed this app.
2. If he/she had the corona like symptoms he/she should take
the self-assessment test on the app and should share the information /data with
the government, which most of the people will not do due to fear.
3. As the app doesn’t
reveal the identity of the positive person or their contacts until they will
come within your phone Bluetooth proximity the app will not indicate you the
risk.
There were some myths like that this app will collect all
your data and share with third party and fear of
informing the health details though the app if we inform we all be kept in isolation centers.
So the educated people should share the usage and working of this app to the
other peoples also. So more number of people will use the app and we can break
the infection chain. As there were some security issues initially but later
through updates issues were resolved. As govt is doing so much to control we also
should cooperate with by using this app and also telling others to use it.
